Here's the cake I made for my grandma yesterday. She likes the beach and other tropical things so I figured this would be the perfect cake to make for her. I used brown sugar as the sand and blue writing gel as the ocean. I had a stencil for when you want to write with icing freehand you can just press it down and then go over it with the icing but I used it to make it look like someone wrote happy birthday in the sand. Then I realized I didn't have frosting to pipe around the bottom so I improvised and made little Plumeria flowers with some leftover fondant. I put a dab of orange food coloring in the middle and then I got some yellow pearl dust to brush in the center and then brushed it to fade as it goes towards the outside of the flower. She loved it and everyone ate it all!
